IELTS is conducted in 2 different modules: (I) General Training and (II) Academic Training.
In Academic Training module, the candidates are measured for their skills on whether they are prepared to take undergraduate and graduate programs.
In General Training module, candidates are measured for their ability to communicate.
Both modules consist of 4 parts as listening, reading, writing and speaking. The exam (excluding speaking part) takes 2 hours 45 minutes. The speaking part takes about 12 to 14 minutes.
All parts are graded from 1 to 9 in whole numbers or in decimals such as 6.5, 6.0. Overall Band Score is the arithmetic average of all four scores.
